Privacy Policy
Effective October 23, 2026
Demoty is developed by OThmane Mdidet. This policy explains how the app handles your recordings, photos, purchases, and optional iCloud sync.
Your recordings and photos
Demoty records your screen only after you start recording through the iOS recording controls. Imported videos, project edits, thumbnails, and chosen background photos are stored on your device. Exported videos are saved to Photos with your permission. We do not upload this content to developer-operated servers, and we cannot view your recordings.
iCloud sync
When iCloud Sync is enabled and you are signed in to iCloud, Demoty uses Apple CloudKit to store recordings, thumbnails, background photos, and project settings in your private iCloud database. iCloud Sync is enabled by default and can be turned off in Demoty Settings. Apple processes this data under its own privacy terms. The developer does not have access to the contents of your private iCloud database.
Turning off sync stops future syncing; it does not automatically remove content already in iCloud. You can delete projects in Demoty while sync is enabled, or manage app storage in your iCloud settings. Copies you exported or shared are managed separately.
Purchases
Apple processes subscriptions and other in-app purchases through StoreKit. Demoty checks purchase entitlements to unlock Pro. We do not receive your payment card details or billing address. Apple may provide sales and financial reports to the developer.
Demoty for Mac
Demoty for Mac records an iPhone connected with a cable, on your Mac, after you allow it the way macOS asks for a camera. Recordings stay on your Mac (and in your private iCloud if sync is on), and exported videos are saved to your Movies folder. Pro on the Mac is bought through Polar, which processes your payment and email address under its own privacy policy; we receive order details such as your email address, but never your card details. To check your license, Demoty sends the license key and a name for your Mac to Polar every few hours. Nothing else about you or your recordings is sent.
Mac app updates
Demoty for Mac checks a small version-policy file at othmne.cc when the app opens and returns to the foreground. If an update is required, the app displays an update screen. When you click Update, Sparkle downloads the release from othmne.cc, verifies its signature and prepares it for installation. Clicking Reopen completes installation and relaunches Demoty. Requests expose ordinary connection details such as your IP address to the hosting provider; your recordings, edits, license key and device name are not included. No advertising identifiers or system profile are sent. A cached required update remains in effect offline; without a previously received requirement, a failed network check leaves the app usable.
Permissions and preferences
Demoty uses the system video and photo pickers to access media you select, and requests permission to save exports to Photos. Settings such as appearance, accent color, onboarding, and purchase entitlement status are stored locally. You can change permissions in iOS Settings.
No ads or tracking
Demoty contains no advertising or third-party analytics SDKs and does not track you across other apps or websites. You do not need to create a Demoty account.
Support messages
If you email support, we receive the email address and information you choose to send so we can answer your request. Please avoid sending sensitive screen recordings or other private content unless necessary.
Children
Demoty does not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent personal information to the developer, please contact us.
Changes and contact
This page will be updated if Demoty’s data practices change. Questions or deletion requests about support correspondence can be sent to contact@demoty.app.
